On Motion of Thomas Ruffin esqr Attorney for the County, It is Ordered that a Jury be impannelled to enquire into the Sate of the Mind of William Rainey. Whereupon the following Jury was impannelled, vizt: David Parker, James Thompson, John Strayhorn, John Strain, Aquilla Herndon, Joseph Clark, Geo Johnston, James Strayhorn, Alexander Boreland, William Wallace, James Hart, Sutton Ward – find that the said William Rainey is insane of Non Sane Mind & mind [sic]. Whereupon Michael Holt & William Holt Jr are appointed Guardians to the said William Rainey and enters into Bond with Mason Tapley and Archibald D Murphey in the Sum of £5000.

Thomas Fitch & Boston Isley are appointed Constables in & for Chatham district. James Holt and Thomas Whithed are elected Constables in & for St Asaphs District.

Ordered that John Browning Son of Polley Browning now of the age of 17 years 3rd April next be bound to John Redmond Senr until he arrives to lawful age to learn the Art & mistery of a Weaver. [See Apprentice Bonds, image 545.]

The Execution of the last Will & Testament of Henry Evans dec’d was duly proved in open Court by the Oath of John Rhodes and Thomas Hudgins the Subscribing Witnesses thereto And Ordered to be recorded at the Same time Chesley P Patterson one of the Executors therein named qualified. Whereupon Elizabeth Evans Widow of said Henry Evans dec’d appears in open Court and enters her discent [sic] for the last Will of Henry Evans dec’d her deceased husband. [See OWB D/427.]

Ordered that Elizabeth Evans be appointed Guardian to Asa Evans Orphan of Henry Evans dec’d & enters into Bond with William Rhodes & Thomas Hudgins her Sec’s in the Sum of £1000.

Administration on the Estate of Thomas Steel dec’d is granted to Elizabeth Steel Widow and Solomon Jones who enter into Bond with Chesley P Patterson & Joseph Bilbo in the Sum of £1000.

Ordered that Archibald Reeves Son of Nancy Jenkins now of the age of 5 years 21st Jan’y last be bound to John Baker until he arrive to lawful Age to learn the art & mistery of a Shoemaker. [Apprentice Bond not found. Archibald Reeves was the illegitimate son of Archibald Reeves and Nancy Blake - see OCPQS 7/540. In 1810, Nancy Blake had married John Jenkins - see OMB I-L/172.]

Ordered that John Rhodes esqr, Mann Patterson and John Moore are appointed a Committee to lay off & allott to Elizabeth Evans Widow of Henry Evans dec’d One Years provision out of the Stock, Crop & Provisions on hands of dec’d and if there be no Crop, Stock &c or not a Sufficiency of the Stock, Crop &c to afford such allowance the Commissioners proceed to estimate the Value of One Years Provision for said Widow & Family and make returns under their hands & Seals to the of the said Estimate to the next Court.

Ordered that Absalom Alston, John Cate, Absalom Alston esq, Isaiah Marcum & Joseph Bilbo be appointed Commissioners to lay off and allott to Elizabeth Steel widow of Thomas Steel dec’d One years provision out of the Stock, Crop & provisions of said dec’d on hand And if there be not a Sufficiency to afford such allowance the said Commissioners proceed to estimate the Value of One Years provision for said family & widow and make returns under their hands & Seals to next Court.

Ordered that Raiford Burnett Son of Abigail Burnett now of the age of 5 years 15th November last be bound to Stephen William Gappins to learn the Art & mistery of a Mason & Cooper. [Bond not found.]

Ordered that Administration on the Estate of Anne Taylor Dec’d be granted to Thomas Taylor who enters into Bond with John Taylor Jr and William Thompson & Joseph Allison Sec’s in the Sum of £500.

Ordered that the Administrators of Anne Taylor Dec’d have leave to sell the perishable property of said Dec’d.
