further says he has two bonds upon Wm Hor[n] payable to himself for £227 in the
whole for Land this Garnishee sold the property of sd Chas Abercrombie, &
which this Garnishee thinks are voidable because he thinks the title of the
Land was not in sd Abercrombie at the time of sd Sale.

Henry Hargrove came
into Court & made Oath that the Land with which he was charg’d as Taxable
was a wrong return for that he never own’d nor gave in the same therefor the
same is allow’d by the in James Carringtons Insolvent lists.
Abner Tapp came into
Court & enters in himself with Wm Courtney & Jas Carrington Esqs in the
sum £100 for the maintainence of a bastard Child he begat on the Body of Mary Peeks. [See Bastardy Bonds image 428,

the room of And’w Murdock.
Ordered that a Tax
for the Year 1787 be laid for this County of eight pence pr hundred acres of
Lan & two shillings for each poll towards defraying the County charges for
this Year.
Ordered that the
following Persons be appointed as a Jury of view on the part of Jno M Whitney
in a suit depending in this court wherein Jno M Whitney is Plaintiff & Jno

Pratt pay to Elizabeth Hastings the sum of Five pounds pr year for five years
or during the Life of sd Child to commence from the birth of sd Child, to be
paid annually. [See Bastardy Bonds, images 414 & 415.]
Ordered that Mark
Patterson enter further Bond with additional Security in the sum of five
hundred pounds for the faithful discharge of his duty as administrator to
collect & take care of the goods & chattels, rights & credits of the
Estate of John Patterson Deceased, agreeable to the power and authority he
sustains under Letters of ad colligendum bona Defuncti which were lately granted
to him by the County Court Orange. John Bryant & Jno Barbee offerd as
Security & approved by the Court. [See

Wm Ansley Garnishee summon’d declares on oath that he is owing to Chas &
Robt Abercrombie one bond to the amount of £200 – but what part thereof belongs
to Chas Abercrombie he knows not.

Kelley} Ordered that Thomas Mullholland & Mr Whithead lay off the Land in
question agreable to the order of the Former Court.
Jno Barbee &
Turner Herod are Deemd sufficient security for Mark Patter in his appeal from
the letters ad Colligendum granted Jno G Rencher.
Henry O’Dannel is
Deemed sufficient Security for Jno McDannel in his Bond for the indemnity of
the parish by reason of a Bastard Child begotten by him &c. [See Bastardy

Whereas it appearing
to the County Court of Orange that manifest injurys are rendered to Just
Creditors by persuing the Docket as it genera[lly] stands, We therefor herby
inform Suitors and others who have beausiness to do at the next County Court to
be held for the County aforesaid that it is the intention of the Court to proceed
on beausiness in the Following manner to Wit – On Monday the first day of the
Term Qualify the grand Jury take probates of Wills, Deeds, grant Admr & the
Second and third days to proceed to the trial of such cases as are brought on
specialties, Assumptions and plaine Accounts. The fourth day prosecute the
State beausiness, The fifth appeals form Warrants the S?? Assaults & Batteries
and actions of Slander. Saml Benton.
