The Commissioners of Hillsboro vs William Lockhart Adm’r} Jury charged No 1: William Hall, William Bowles, William Hopkins, James Latta, John Wilborne, Arthur Mangum, John Sharp, Allen Paris, Thomas Holden, William Finley, John Lynch, James Campbell. Find the Covenants not performed & assess the plffs Damages to £9.17.6.

William Kirkland vs Jesse & Will Clark} Jury charged: Isaac Lint, Joseph Marcum, James Herndon, Charles Strayhorn, Samuel Craig, John McFarland, Samuel Peeler, Sampson Moore, John Redmond, Henry Merritt, William Strayhorn, John Hunt. Find that on 1st March 1810 there was a payment of fifty eight dollars of the Value of Twenty nine pounds, that the Value of the Dollars in the bond is £118.14, that the residue of the Bond is unpaid which leaves Balance of principal of £104.16.11 & assess the Plffs Damages to 3.13 & Costs.

[OCPQS 8/92 – Aug 1810]

Wednesday 28th August 1810, Present: John Taylor, Thomas Whitted, John Latta, James Moore} esqrs.

Ordered that Nathan Moore & Edward Boswell be allowed three pounds for their Services as patrollers during last year & that the County Trustee pay the same.

On the petition of sundry Inhabitants of the lower end of the County praying that a new road may be laid out from from the main road passing William Cains mill on little River thence along the nighest and best ???? way on or near McCulloch’s long line (so called) crossing Flat River near Hunter’s old ford to the Granville County line, It is ordered that the Sheriff do summon the following persons or any twelve of them to wit: Jacob Armstrong Jr, Archer Harris, John Macfarlan, D??? Hunt, James Walker, Nolan Hampton, John Wilbourn, John Moize, James Roberts, Hardimon Duke, Thomas How???, William Dollar & Henry Moize to view and lay out a road according to the petition and make report to next Co.

The State vs William Lockhart} Ind’t. Jury sworn: William Bowles, William Hopkins, James Latta, John Wilborne, Arthur Mangum, John Sharp, Allen Parish, William Leathers, George Reeves, Charles Strayhorn, Fredrick Mize, Arthur Bobbitt. Find the Defendant [guilty?] in Manner & form as charged in the Bill of Indictment.

The Execution of a Deed from David Yarbrough & Helen his Wife to Jacob Rich was duly proved in open Court by the Oaths of Alfred Jones & William A Jones the Subscribing Witnesses thereto and Ordered to be certified. [Certified to be recorded in some other county. Not found in ODB or OWB.]

[OCPQS 8/95 – Aug 1810]

Thursday 30th Aug’t 1810, Present: John Street, Andrew McBroom, William Barbee} esqrs.

Ordered that the former Order binding to James Rainey a certain Orphan boy called & known by the name of Charles Rhodes [OCPQS 6/193] now of the age of 14 years 16th March last be rescinded. It is therefore Ordered that the said Charles Rhodes be bound to Henry Goodrich until he arrive to lawful age to learn the art & mistery of a hatter. [Bond not found.]

Ordered that Thomas Woods be appointed Guardian of Jane Baldridge & Margret Baldridge minor daughters of James Baldridge dec’d who enters into Bond with David Woods & Samuel Woods his Securities in the sum of £500. David White the former Guardian resigns his Guardianship.

[OCPQS 8/96 – Aug 1810]

Ordered that John Smith pay to Sarah McMunn the Sum of Twelve pounds five Shillings Instanter for the maintenance of a child of which she has been delivered & of which he stands legally charged as the reputed father, the same being for its Support before it arrived to five years of age. [In left margin:] 17th Oct 1810 rec’d of John Taylor Jr £12.7 /Sarah herX mark McMunn/ Witness /Daniel Cloud/

Ordered that the Sheriff produce at next Court John McMunn natural son of Sarah McMunn of whom John Smith is the reputed father, and that the said John Smith appear at the next Court to shew cause why a further allowance shall not be made for the maintenance of said child since she he was five years of age, John Smith being present in Court.

[OCPQS 8/97 – Aug 1810]

Administration on the Estate of James Durning dec’d is granted to Ali Durning who enters into Bond with George Carrington & John Cole her Securities in the Sum of £250.

Whereas it appears to this Court that Leonard Carlton was heretofore appointed Guardian to Nancy, Caty & Sally Carlton and who entered into Bond with Jarratt Yeargain & Joseph Barbee his Securities and whereas it appears to this Court that the said Leonard Carlton has deserted his family and left his Wards and their property unprotected, It is therefore Ordered that Jarratt Yeargain one of his Securities have leave to take into his possession the Wards of the said Leonard Carlton & their property and manage the same as Guardian until the further Order of the Court And that the said Leonard Carlton shew cause at next Term if any he hath why he shall not be removed from his Guardianship & another appointed in his room & stead.

[OCPQS 8/98 – Aug 1810]

Ordered that William Riggs pay to Polley Hunt the Sum of Twenty Seven pounds vizt the Sum of seven pounds immediately, five pounds on the 2nd day of March next and five pounds yearly thereafter until the whole is paid for the Support & maintenance of a Child of which the said Polley Hunt has been lately delivered & of which he stands legally charged as the reputed father, and that notice issue to William Riggs to shew cause why Execution shall not issue against him. [OCPQS 8/100 – Aug 1810]

Friday 31st Aug’t 1810, Court met according to adjournment. Present: James Webb, John Street, Ca Campbell} esqrs.

John Cate former Guardian to Benjamin Cate an Idiot comes into Court & resigns her [sic] Guardianship, Whereupon Milley Cate is appointed Guardian to the said Benjamin Cate and enters into Bond with Charles Christmas & William Jean her Securities in the Sum of £1000. [See OCPQS 9/307 where these Securities were replaced.]

Administration on the estate of Arch’d Collins dec’d is granted to Brice Collins who enters into Bond with Daniel Wilkerson a Subscribing Witness thereto & ordered to be registered his Security in the Sum of £60.

Ordered that Samuel Turrentine esq be allowed Six pounds for the Maintenance & keeping of an Orphan child called Charles Rhodes since last Court & that the County Trustee pay the same.
