It being suggested to the Court that Edward Harris has become insane and of unsound Mind, it is Ordered that the Sheriff do summon a Jury of good and lawful men to enquire into the Condition of the said Edward Harris’s Mind and make return thereof under their hands & Seals to this Court.

Ordered that a Commission issue to take the deposition of John Craig to be read as evidence in behalf of Herbert Collier in the Suit now depending in this Court wherein John Taylor Sr is plaintiff and Herbert Collier Defendant and that five days notice be sufficient.

No 3 Robert Tinnin vs Joseph Ellison Jr} Cov’t. Thursday Morning 29th Aug’t 1811, Court met according to adjournment. Present: John Taylor, William Dickey, Robert Murray} esqrs.

John Taylor Jr is appointed Guardian to Celia Jones daughter of Moses Jones who enters into Bond with John Taylor Sr his Sec’y in the Sum of £[blank].

It appearing to the Court that the last Will & Testament of Benjamin Rainey dec’d [OWB D/286] was duly proved and recorded in this Court and it also appearing to the Court that it is material that the said last Will & Testament of said Benjamin Rainey dec’d should be proved in the State of South Carolina, It is therefore Ordered that Benjamin A Rainey & William Holt Exrs of said Benjamin Rainey dec’d have leave to withdraw the said will from the Clerks Office of this Court for the purposes of obtaining letters Testamentary in said State of South Carolina &c and that they return said Will to this office.

Ordered that Willis Wells be discharged from Taxation in future on account of his blindness.

The State vs John Riggs} Ind’t. Jury Sworn: Alexander Russell, Samuel Kirkpatrick, William Parish, Sullivan Leigh, John Durham, Jacob Greer, James Patterson, Jehu Bird, Joseph Ellison, Barby? B?????, Isaiah Marcum, William Carrington. Find the Defendant Guilty in manner & form as charged in the Bill of Ind’t.

Ordered that Bennett Cole Son of Patsy Cole, now of the age of 10 years 28th July last be bound to Samuel Nevill until he arrives to lawful age to learn the art & mistery of a farmer. [Bond not found. He was re-bound at OCPQS 8/393.]

Administration on the Estate of Henry Younger dec’d is granted to Sarah Younger who enters into Bond with John Stalcup and Augustus Dishon her Sec’s in the Sum of £1500.

Ordered that the Order appointing a Committee to report on the expences of building a house for the Clerk’s offices to be kept in be enlarged till next Court and that the report be made on Thursday.

Administration on the Estate of Enoch McPherson Dec’d is granted to Peter Stout and Sarah McPherson who enter into Bond with John Marshall & Joseph McPherson in the Sum of £500.

Ordered that Sarah Younger Adm’x of Henry Younger Dec’d have leave to sell the perishable estate of said Henry Younger dec’d.

On the petition of Sarah Younger widow of Henry Younger Dec’d it is Ordered that William Dickey esqr, James Faucett, Hardy Hurdle and James Hart be appointed Commissioners to allott to her one years provision out of the Estate of said Henry Younger Dec’d and report to next Term.

Ordered that the Sheriff Summon a Jury of good & lawful men to view & lay off a road to lead from the Raleigh road above Mrs Sears to William Barbees Mill the nearest & best way and make return to next Term.

On Petition &c, It is ordered that Joseph Clendening esqr, Lewis Horneday, Jacob Moulder, Daniel Foust be appointed Commissioners to lay off & allott to Sarah McPherson widow of Enoch McPherson Dec’d one years provision.

Ordered that the Administrators of Enoch McPherson Dec’d have leave to sell the perishable estate of said dec’d.

The Widow of Burwell Chizenhall Dec’d appears in open Court & relinquishes her right of Administration. Administration is therefore granted to James Latta who enters into Bond with William Chizenhall his Security in the Sum of £800.

Ordered that the Order appointing Commissioners to Allott to Deborah Elliott Widow &c her provision be enlarged till next Term.

Susannah Ector Executrix named in the Will of Samuel Ector dec’d appeared in open Court & qualified accordingly. [See OWB D/314.]

It appearing to the Court by the Inquisition of a Jury impannelled according to Law by this Court to enquire into the State of Mind of Edward Harris that the said Edward is a Lunatic and of unsound Mind. It is Ordered that Nathaniel Harris be appointed Guardian to the said Edward Harris who enters into Bond with Duncan Cameron his Security in the Sum of £250.

Ordered that Franky Weaver who was heretofore bound to Edward Harris [OCPQS 7/378] be bound to Nathaniel Carrington until she arrive to lawful age. [Bond not found.]

Ordered that Robert Faucett be appointed Guardian to Anne Faucett, Nath’l Fossett, Susannah Fossett, John Fossett Orphans of John Fossett dec’d who enters into Bond with John Ray & Robert Morrow in the Sum of £200 each Bond.

Ordered that the Executors of Sam’l Ector dec’d have leave to sell the perishable Estate of said Dec’d.

Edward Burrage is appointed Guardian to Allen Peeler and enters into Bond with Benjamin Carroll & Sam’l Peeler his Sec’s in the Sum of £500.

Administration on the Estate of Thomas Bradford Dec’d is granted to Richard Smith who enters into Bond with Hugh Mulhollan & Allen Sykes his Securities in the Sum of £200.

William Shaw Son of Crissy Shaw now of the age 10 years 20 July last be bound to Thomas Lloyd until he arrives to lawful age to learn the art & mistery of a farmer. [Bond not found.]

Ordered that Michael Holt esqr, James Patterson, John Melvin & John Cable be appointed Commissioners to lay off & allot to Barbary Cable Widow of Anthony Cable Jr Dec’d and report to next Term.

Ordered that William Crabtree pay to Polley Sharp the Sum of Twenty Seven pounds as follows, Seven pounds immediately, five pounds on the 30th May next & five pounds annually thereafter until the whole be paid for the Support & maintenance of a child of which she has lately been delivered and of which he stands charged as the reputed father.
