Ordered that David Mebane esq, Edward Wilson, Samuel Nelson & James Tate be appointed Commissioners to lay off & allot to Mary Thomas Widow of Thomas Thomas Dec’d one years provision out of the Estate of her Dec’d husband & report to next Court.

Ordered that Sarah Little now of the age of 12 years be bound to William Lindley until she arrive to lawful age to learn the Art & mistery of a Carpenter Spinster & to learn to read & write. [Bond not found.]

Ordered that John Taylor Sr, Pleasant Henderson & William Barbee be appointed Commissioners to contract for the Building of a Bridge across Bens Creek at or near where the road Crosses said Creek from the University to Raleigh & that they report to next Court. [But the project was delayed. See OCPQS 7/353.]

John Cate Sr is appointed Guardian to Benjamin Cate an Idiot and enters into Bond with John Cate and Tho Cate his Sec’s in the Sum of £1000.

The Execution of a Bill of Sale from James Stockard Admr &c to James Nicholson was duly proved in open Court by the Oath of Peter Foust a Subscribing Witness thereto & ordered to be registered. [See ODB 12/301.]

Ordered that Elizabeth William Baldwin pay unto Elizabeth Newton the Sum of Twenty Seven pounds as follows vizt Two pounds immediately, five pounds at the end of One year and five pounds annually thereafter until the whole is paid for the Support & maintenance of a Child of which Elizabeth Newton hath lately been delivered & of which the said William Baldwin Stands charged according to Law with being the reputed father. A Deed from John Fury to John Robinson with the names of Thomas Douglass & Pulliam Williamson & the mark of Janet Douglass thereto Subscribed as Witnesses being offered for probate, Joseph Armstrong was duly Sworn who deposed that he was well acquainted with Thomas Douglass, had frequently seen him write, know his hand writing Well, that the said Deed was written in the hand writing of said Douglass and his name thereto Subscribed also in his hand writing, and that the said Pulliam Williamson had some time past abscented from the County of Person & gone out of the State.
