Ordered that Lewis McDaniel Son of Susanah McDaniel now of the age of 8? years 24th Inst be bound to John Towell until he arrive to lawful age to learn the art & mistery of a farmer. [See Apprentice Bonds, image 510. [Lewis McDaniel was evidently the son of Lewis Woody – see Bastardy Bonds, images 829, 830 & 910.]

Peter Foust is appointed Guardian to Sarah Freeman & enters into Bond with Richard Thompson his Security in the Sum of Twenty five pounds.

The Execution of a Bill of Sale from Richard & Andrew Hunter to Daniel Foust was duly proven in open Court by the oath of Peter Foust the Subscribing witness thereto and order’d to be registr’d. [See ODB 13/1.]

Samuel Turrentine is unanimously elected Sheriff of this County and enters into Bond with Daniel Turrentine, John Taylor Sr, William Kirkland, Catlet Campbell, John Jameson, John Cabe, Jacob Greer, William McCauley & Andrew Murdock his Securities.

Samuel Turrentine Shff &c is allowed fifty pounds for his Ex Officio Services Services [sic] during the last year.

John Taylor Jr Clerk of this Court is allowed fifty pounds for his Ex Officio Services.

Ordered that each of the patrollers who were adjudged to be entitled to pay for there Services the last year be entitled to receive the Sum of five pounds each and that the County Trustee pay the Same.

Ordered that a Tax of One Shilling on each black poll be levied & Collected for the payment of Patrols.

Hugh Wilson is entitled to receive pay for his Services as a Patroller.

Ordered that the Sheriff Summon a Jury to View & lay off a road the nearest & best way from the place where Mrs Booths Sears path leaves the present road from Chapel Hill to Raleigh to the Bridge across Newhope near Capt Charles Colliers & report to next Term.

Thomas Brewer is appointed to receive the List of Taxables & Taxable property within Caswell District.

Michael Holt is appointed to receive the List of Taxables & Taxable property within St Asaphs Dist.

William McCauley is appointed to receive the List of Taxables & Taxable property within St Thomas Dist.

William Barbee is appointed to receive the List of Taxables & Taxable property within St Marks Dist.

Ordered that Theophilus Thompson Jr pay to Nancy McMullen the Sum of Twenty Seven Pounds in the following payments, vizt: Seven pounds immediately & five pounds at the end of twelve months & five pounds annually thereafter until the whole is paid for the Support & maintenance of a child of which she hath lately been delivered & of which he stands charged with being the reputed father. [See Bastardy Bonds, image 1184.]
