Gavin Hogg a foreigner by Birth comes into Court and takes the Oath of Allegiance according to the Laws in such Cases made & provided.

Ordered that Abner B Bruce, Catlet Campbell & John Latta esqrs be appointed Auditors to settle the Accounts of Elizabeth Holden Adm’x of John Holden Dec’d and that they report to next Term or this Term.

Ordered that David Dickey Son of John Dickey now of the age of four years 4th June next be bound to William Woods until he arrive to lawful age to learn the Art & mistery of a Waggon maker. [See Apprentice Bonds, image 523.]

[OCPQS 8/59 – May 1810]

Ordered that James Latta be appointed to receive the allowance to Elizabeth Sparks for the maintenance of a child of which she hath lately been delivered and of which Bradly Collins stands charged as the reputed father and that he pay the same to such person or persons as may furnish her support & child proper articles proper for their Support in such proportions as he may think proper.

Ordered that Edward Alsobrook pay to Laney Barton twenty seven pounds vizt Seven pounds immediately & five pounds 10th April next & five pounds annually thereafter until the whole be paid for the Support & maintenance of a child of which she hath lately been delivered & of which he stands Charged as the reputed father. Ordered that the following Taxes be levied & Collected, vizt: 4d on each poll, 4d on each £100 Value of Town property & 4d on each 300 acres of Land for the repairs of Public Buildings. 8d on each poll, 8d on each £100 Value of Town property & 8d on each 300 acres of Land for the payment of County Contingencies & Jurors.

Gavin Alves is appointed County Trustee and offers Doct’r James Webb, William Norwood & John Taylor Jr his Securities.

A Majority of the Justices of this County being present, Josiah Turner was elected Sheriff of this County, entered into Bond with [blank] his Securities & took the usual Oaths necessary for his Qualification.

Whereas Elizabeth Brooks Widow & relict of Thomas Brooks dec’d exhibited here in Court a paper writing & alleged the same contains the last Will & Testament of Thomas Books dec’d so far as concerns his personal property and prays the same may be proved in Solemn form, It is therefore Ordered that Summons issue to Andrew Brooks, William Brooks, Benjamin Howell & Elizabeth his wife, William Jackson & Susannah his wife, Joseph Tyrrell & Sarah his wife, Hannah Brooks & James Brooks her Child to appear at next Term of this Court and be present at the said probate & contest the same if they think proper. And it is further ordered that John Taylor Jr be appointed Guardian pendente lite to Hannah

Ordered that letters ad Collegendum issue to John Taylor Jr on the estate of Thomas Brooks dec’d and that he keep the said property in his possession until the decision on the probate of the Will.
