Ordered that the Sheriff summon a Jury to View the road
leading from the University to Woody’s ferry near the House of Richard Stanford
esqr and lay out the Same so as to pass on the South of his House.
Ordered that James King pay to Elizabeth Wyatt Twenty Seven
pounds Viz Seven pounds immediately & five pounds annually until the whole
be paid for the Support & maintenance of a child of which she hath lately
been delivered and of which he stands charged as the reputed father. [See

Thursday Morning 30th May 1811, Court met
according to adjournment, Present: James Webb, John Latta, James Moore} esqrs.
On the report of the Jury to lay off a road commencing near
the Corner of John Cate’s fence running by Barney Cate’s Mill to the old road
at James Kirk’s Sadler’s Shop, the Court adjudges that the report be disallowed
and that the old road be confirmed, And that James Kirk have leave to Keep up
his fences until November Court.
Thomas Scott esqr one of the Justices named in the
Commission of the Peace appeared in open Court & qualified accordingly.
William Strayhorn is appointed Overseer of the road from
Bakers Branch to the Meadows on the road from Hillsboro to Chappel Hill.
Ordered that the hands of John Latta Senr, John Lynch Junr
work on the road under Isaac Holden Overseer.

Administration on the Estate of John Woody Dec’d is granted

James Phillips is appointed Guardian to David Lockhart and
enters into Bond with William Lockhart & William Hall his Securities in the
Sum of £500.
A paper writing purporting to be the last Will &
Testament of John Riggs Dec’d was exhibited in Court for probate which was
contested by Ezekiel Laws, William Riggs, John Riggs, George Riggs & Thomas
Riggs. Whereupon the Court doth direct that an issue be made up to try the
Validity of said Will and that John Taylor the Clerk of this Court be appointed
Guardian pendente lite to Cyrus Riggs, Albert Riggs, Frances Riggs & Samuel
Riggs Infants under the age of twenty one years. [See OCPQS 8/271.]
Administration on the Estate of Jonathan Jones Dec’d is
granted to Reuben Smith & Jonathan Jones Jr who enters into Bond with Valentine
Moore Allen Sykes and James Kirk his Securities in the Sum of £250.

Ordered that a Tax of One Shilling Nine Pence on each
poll, nine pence on each 300 acres of Land & nine pence on each £100 Val of
Town property be Collected for the Building [of] the Bridge across Allamance.
Ordered that One Shilling on each poll, one Shilling on each
300 Acres of Land & One Shilling on each £100 Value of Town property be
collected for the pay’t of County Contingencies.
Ordered that Sixpence on each poll, Six pence on each 300 Acres
of Land and Six pence on each £100 Value of Town property be collected for
public Buildings.
John Taylor & James Phillips are appointed Commissioners
to Act with the Treasurer of Public Buildings to contract for repairs of the
public Buildings.

Ordered that Duncan Cameron be appointed with full power
& authority to sell & dispose of a Tract of Land lying in the County of
Wake sold as the property of William Spaight and purchased by the Trustee of
this County for the benefit of the County.

John Taylor Jr & Archibald D Murphey the Executors named
in the last will & Testament of Wilson Child Dec’d [OWB D/277] having renounced
their right of Executorship, Administration with the Will annexed is therefore
granted to James Child who enters into Bond with William Whitted and William
Kirkland his Securities in the Sum of £2500.
Ordered that Abner B Bruce, Samuel Turrentine & Henry
Thompson Jr be appointed a Committee to examine & Settle the Accounts of
Samuel Benton Dec’d late Clerk of Orange Superior Court with the County of
Orange & report to next Term.

to Paul Kennion until he arrives to lawful Age to learn the Art & mistery
of a Hatter. [Bond not found. Sanders had previously been bound to Henry Shutt
