17. John Thompson vs James Crutchfield} Case. Gen’l issue, Sett off, Statute of Lim. Jury sworn, to wit: Henry Neal, Samuel Chambers, James Ray, Samuel Nelson, James Thompson, Samuel Hector, James Phillips, John Daniel, Edward Pickett, Garret Garrison, George Garrison, Ezekiel Trice. Joseph Ming a Guarnishee sum[mone]d and appearing, being sworn Sayeth that he has no property of Adam Marleys in his hands or possession, that he owes him no money, that Adam Marley once had his in his poss[ess]ion a note of this Guarnishees for 60 dollars, that the Guarnishee discharg’d the sd note before this Atta was levied in his hands by paying value for it. But that he did not rec’e the note til some time after paym’t & then by the hands of Marley’s wife, but before the Atta was levied in his hands. A. Elizabeth Armstrong Orphan of Jno Armstrong Dec’d of lawful age comes into Court & choses Rich’d Christmas her Guardian & the [said] Richard entered into bond with David Mebane & Samuel Nelson in the Sum of £500.

Jonathan Jones Jr comes into Court and offers Thomas Whited & Hugh Mulhollan as his Sec’ys in the Sum of £100 for the maintenance of a Child begotten on the body of Sarah Hargiss. [See Bastardy Bonds, images 681-685.]

George Fosset and Robert Wilson are considered as sufficient Sec’ys for Robert Fosset to keep the County indemnified by a Child begotten on the body of [blank, but evidently Sarah Woods]. [See Bastardy Bonds, images 679, 702 & 704.]

Administration of the Estate of Moses Estridge is granted to Willie Estridge who enters into bond with Burroughs Estridge & James Cheek in the Sum of £200.

Ordered that the assessors of Town property who assess’d the Property last pay to the Collector of tax on their town property according to the value it was assess’d at the year before.

Ordered that the Sheriff be allowed the taxes on 713 acres of Land & 3 polls which was twice listed by Mrs Child through mistake.

Ordered that an Orphan Child named Green Richards about 5 years old be bound to Hamilton Allison until he arrives to the age of 21 years. [See Apprentice Bonds, image 265.]

Reuben Longwith having appeared in the presence of this Court in a state of intoxication and having behaved himself contemptuously to the Court by swearing profanely and setting their authority as defiance is ordered to pay forty shillings for the contempt to be sent to goal there to remain till 6 o’Clock in the evening and then to be discharged upon paying the above fine and fees.

Andrew Gibson qualified as Exr to the Last Will & Testament of George Holt Dec’d. [See OWB C/112.]

Jesse Lunch vs John Sloss} Alexander Anderson sworn as Guarnishee and is discharged. James Fosset Jr as Guarnishee saith that he has in his possession to Harrow Hoes & ??ll Weeding hoe & that he has been Informed by Jno Sloss that Abner B Bruce is indebted to him the sd Sloss in about the sum of Twenty pounds. Ordered that the property in the hands of James Fosset be sold. On motion the Plaintiff by his Atto Wm Norwood Esq, Ordered that a Judicial Attachment issue to Abner B Bruce.
