On Motion Ordered that James Robertson pay to Judah Cain the
Sum of Twenty Seven pounds in the following pay’ts, vizt, Seven pounds
immediately & five pounds annually thereafter until the whole is paid for
the Support & maintenance of a Child of which said Judah hath lately been
delivered & of which said James Robertson Stands charged according to Law
as the reputed father. [See Bastardy Bonds, images 1151, 1153, 1180 &
1182.]
On Motion Ordered that John King pay to Nancy Hogan the Sum
of twenty seven pounds as follows, vizt, Seven pounds immediately and five
pounds annually thereafter until the whole be paid for the Support &
maintenance of a child of which Nancy Hogan Single Woman hath lately been
delivered and of which said John King stands legally charged as being the
reputed father. [Not found in Bastardy Bonds.]

Administration on the Estate of William O’Daniel Dec’d is
granted to Henry O’Daniel who enters into Bond with & John Workman
who enter into Bond with David Mebane & Reuben Smith in the Sum of £500.
Ordered that the appointment of Isham Brewer Overseer of the
road from the flat rock to the County line be rescinded and that John Walker be
considered as the Overseer of said road and that he keep the same in good
repair.

Abner B Bruce a Subscribing Witness thereto & ordered to be registered.

On hearing the petition of Richard Harris for the
Emancipation of his Slave Daniel, It is Ordered by the Court that the said
Richard Henderson have permission to liberate the said Slave Daniel on
complying with the requisites of the Act of the General Assembly in such cases
made & provided.
Ordered that Rosannah Cate 8 years old 9th May last, Joce?
Cate 6 years old 6th Feb’y last, Mary Cate 5 years old 10th
???, Joshua Cate 4 years old 10th October last Children of Joseph
Cate Dec’d be bound to Barnabas Cate the [sic] learn the Art & mistery of

John King is appointed Guardian to Calia King, John King,
Hezekiah King & William King Orphans of John King Dec’d who enters in to
Bond with George Horner & James King in the Same Sum that Joseph Ming
former Guardian gave bond for who has resigned.
Ordered that John Berry Son of Nancy Waggoner now of the age
of 15 years next May be bound to Henry Waggoner until he arrive at lawful age
to learn the art and mistery of a Spinster Farmer. [See Apprentice

Ordered that John Taylor esqr, William Barbee & Bryant
Kittrell be appointed Commissioners to contract for the building of a Bridge
across Ben’s Creek where the new road Crosses the Same near the plantation of
Henry Sears & report to next Court. [See Dunaway's Bridge Records,

Ordered that Thomas Brewer esq, John Crutchfield, James
Morrow & Thomas Cate be appointed Commissioners to allot & lay off to
Sarah O’Daniel Widow of William O’Daniel Dec’d one years Provision &
report.
Martha Benson & James Mebane esqr are appointed Guardian
to Edward Benson, Salley Benson, John Benson, Beaufort Benson, Stephen Benson,
William Benson, Phoebe Benson, Reuben Benson & Nancy Benson Orphans of
Alexander Benson Dec’d & they enter into Bond with John Stalcup &
William Craliss? David Mebane their Securities in the Sum of £200 for each
child.

same.

STATE OF NORTH-CAROLINA, To the Sheriff of Orange County,
Greeting: YOU are hereby commanded, that of the Goods and Chattels, Lands and
Tenements of Henry Thompson Jr if to be found in your Bailiwick, you cause to
be made the sum of One pound thirteen Shillings & three pence which in the
County Court of Pleas and Quarters Sessions, held for Orange County, at the
Court-House in Hillsborough, was adjudged against hi for costs of his Suit recovered
against against John Adams as also the endorsed fees for Costs and
Charges in the said Suit expended, whereof the said Henry is liable, as
appears to us of Record. And have you the said monies, besides your Fees for
this Service, before the Justices of our said Court, at Hillsborough, on the
fourth Monday in August next, then and there to render &c. Herein fail not,
and have you then and there this Writ. Witness JOHN TAYLOR, Clerk of the said
