Ordered that John Black a freeman of Color now confined in
the Jail of this County on a charge of Burglary committed in the County of
Granville be conveyed by the Sheriff of the County to the Sheriff or Jailor of
Granville to be by him safely kept until the next Superior Court to be held for
said County of Granville.
Ordered by the Court that it be certified to the County
Court of Granville that Samuel Turrentine Jailor of this County be allowed
Eight pounds 12/2 for keeping and maintaining John Black a freeman of color
charged with a Burglary committed in the County of Granville.

John Elliss records the mark [of] his Stock, to wit: Smooth
Crop off the left Ear.
James Nicholson one of the Constables in St Asaphs district
comes into Court and resigns his office as constable. Melus Broom is thereupon
appointed Constable in & for said District Until the next Term of this Court
& offers [blank] his Securities.
Abel Rainey a Constable heretofore appointed for Chatham
District resigns his appointment. Boston Isley is thereupon appointed Constable
for said District until next Term of Court.
Ordered that Thomas Reaves esq, George Carey & Fredrick
Mize be appointed Committee to lay off & allott to the Widow of Burwell
Chizenhall dec’d one years provision out of the Stock, Crop & provisions of
said dec’d & make report to next Court.
Ordered that James Latta Admr of Burwell Chisenhall Dec’d
have leave to sell the perishable property of said Dec’d.

Thomas House vs John Stroud} Petition for revoking the
letters of administration heretofore granted to John Stroud on the goods and
chattels, rights & credits of Littlebury House dec’d. This Cause coming on
to be heard this day on the Petition and exhibits in this cause and the
defendant John Stroud having been duly served with a copy of the Petition, and
summoned to show cause, ???? why the said administration should not be revoked
and the said John Stroud appearing in Court & showing no cause to the
contrary, the Court on consideration thereof doth order, adjudge and decree
that the letters of administration heretofore granted to the said John Stroud on
the goods & chattels, rights and credits of the said Littleberry House be
wholly revoked, annulled and made void. It is further ordered that the def’t do
pay the costs of this petition.
It appearing to the Court that Thomas House of Chester
district South Carolina, the father and next of Kin of Littleberry House who
died Intestate, unmarried and without children, hath by deed or power of
Attorney duly executed, authorised and empowered William Holt Esqr to
administer on the Estate of the said Littlebury House. It is therefore ordered
that administration of the goods & chattels, rights & credits of the
said Littleberry House be granted to William Holt Esqr who enters into Bond in
the Sum of £2500, with Jacob Greer, Josiah Turner & Duncan Cameron his
Securities.

Will is devised to Elizabeth Carlton the Mother of said Children in Trust for

The State vs Negro Tom a Slave} Information. Jury Sworn:
David Woods, George Carrington, John Kirk, Robert Dixon, James Patterson, James
Kirk, Robert Harris, George Reeves, James Campbell, William Pickett, Joseph
Thompson, Joseph Thompson [sic]. Find the Defendant Guilty of the Petit
Larceny, but not Guilty of the Burglary as charged in the Information. The
Court adjudges that the said Negro now the prisoner at the Bar be taken hence
to the public Whipping post and there receive on his bare back 39 Lashes well
laid and that he be confined for three Months and the Sheriff of this County
Carry this Sentence into Execution immediately.

the Salisbury road at Pattons to Murphey’s Mill with the usual hands.
134. Rich’d Christmas is appointed Overseer of the road from
the fork East of James Palmers passing Campbell’s place to Murphy’s Mill with
the usual hands.
135. Samuel Child is appointed Overseer of the road from
Cates’ Creek to Borelands Creek with the following hand: John Crabtree, Samuel

convenient hands not appointed to work on any other road.

fork below John Banes to the Cross roads below James Dollars Sr with the follow
usual hands: Elisha Chizenhall, William Chizenhall, John Latta, John
Dossett, James Roan, William Woods, Thomas Haley, Ezekial Haley, Asa Dossett,
James Latta, Solomon Wade.
138. Fredrick Mize is appointed Overseer of the road from
the Cross roads below James Dollar’s Senr to the Cross way opposite Wm
Chizenhall’s with the following hands: Elisha Chizenhall, Wm Chizenhall, John
Latta, John Dossett, James Roan, William Wood, Thomas Haley, Ezekiel Haley,
Isaiah Browning, Moses Dossett, James Latta & Solo Woods.
139. James Briggs is appointed Overseer of the road from the
Cross way near Wm Chizenhall’s to the County line with the following hands:
David Glenn, Rial Willis, John Glenn, Wm Glenn, Wm Roan, Walter Glenn, Fielding
Leathers & hands, Elisha Glenn & Sam’l Marshall.
