Israel Holt one of the Bail for George Banes comes into Court
and surrenders his principal in discharge of said Bail.
The State vs James Hart & William Beans & Joseph
Hughs} £100 each recog. For the appearance of George Banes at this Term.
Whereas it is suggested to the Court that Edward Harris now
confined in the Jail of this County is a Lunatic Whereupon the Co or
otherwise non compis mentis, It is Ordered & adjudged by the Court that a
Jury of lawful Men be summoned to enquire into the State of Mind of the said
Edward Harris. Whereupon the following Jury having been summoned, Impannelled
& Sworn to wit: Richard Blackwood, Benjamin Cantrill, John Jolley, James
Turner, Boston Sharp, Robert King, John Shaw, Richard Workman, Fielding
Leathers, Lemuel Morgan, James Hart, Peter Riley – find that the said Edward
Harris is a Lunatic & non Compis Mentis and has been so continually from
the twentieth day of July last past and it further appearing to the Court upon

Thereupon it is adjudged that the said Edward Harris be confined in the Jail of
this County without bail or mainprize until further Orders.

Ordered that James Mebane esquire, Alexander Marcom?,
Archibald Hamilton and Andrew Patton be and they are hereby appointed to lay
off to Margaret Faddis the Widow & Relict of Andrew Faddis deceased one
years maintenance out of the Crop, Stock & Provision on hand, and if there
be not Sufficient not of the Crop, Stock & Provision, then to make
up the Deficiency out of the other personal estate of the said Andrew Faddis
deceased & repot to next Court.
Administration on the estate of John Barker deceased is
granted to John Mason, he entering into Bond with Alexander Moore &
Archibald Hamilton Securities in the Sum of £250 for his faithful
Administration of the Said estate and Leave is given to the said John Mason to

Ordered that James Sturdivant Son of James Sturdivant dec’d
now of the age of Eleven Years 10th May next be bound to Luke
Pendergast until he arrive to lawful age to [learn] the art & mistery of a

Towell are appointed Commissioners to lay off & allot to Jane Fike one
years provision for her Self & family out of the Crop, Stock &
provisions belonging to said Sec’s and if there should note be a Sufficiency of
said Stock, Crop & provisions then they will assess in money as Sum
Sufficient for said Support.
On Motion and cause shown it is Ordered that Isaac Weaver a
boy of Color now about eighteen years old who was heretofore bound by this Court
to Edward Harris [not found] be & he is removed from the power &
authority of the said Edward Harris and is released & discharged from
further obedience to the Orders of the said Edward Harris & of ???? his
Service.

having been offered for probate the Same is Caveated. Whereupon Administration
Pendente Lite is granted to Absalom Alston who enters into Bond with Alfred

Ordered that Andrew McBroom esqr, William Maris, Thomas
Taylor & Stephen Taylor be appointed Commissioners to lay off & allot
