Administration of the Estate of Major Wm McCauley Dec’d is granted to John McCauley his Brother who enters into Bond with John Ray and Thomas Vincent his Sec’s in the Sum of £500.

Administration on the Estate of James Glosson dec’d is granted to Angecilla Glosson his Widow who enters into bond with Robert Eaton Richard Freeman and Samuel Cloud John L Kirk her Sec’s in the Sum of £200.

Ordered that the Administratrix of James Glosson dec’d be permitted to Sell all the perishable estate of said Intestate.

Israel Holt one of the Bail for George Banes comes into Court and surrenders his principal in discharge of said Bail.

The State vs James Hart & William Beans & Joseph Hughs} £100 each recog. For the appearance of George Banes at this Term.

Whereas it is suggested to the Court that Edward Harris now confined in the Jail of this County is a Lunatic Whereupon the Co or otherwise non compis mentis, It is Ordered & adjudged by the Court that a Jury of lawful Men be summoned to enquire into the State of Mind of the said Edward Harris. Whereupon the following Jury having been summoned, Impannelled & Sworn to wit: Richard Blackwood, Benjamin Cantrill, John Jolley, James Turner, Boston Sharp, Robert King, John Shaw, Richard Workman, Fielding Leathers, Lemuel Morgan, James Hart, Peter Riley – find that the said Edward Harris is a Lunatic & non Compis Mentis and has been so continually from the twentieth day of July last past and it further appearing to the Court upon the Oath of Nath’l Harris is the ??? ???? for said Edward Harris ????. This Thereupon it is adjudged that the said Edward Harris be confined in the Jail of this County without bail or mainprize until further Orders.

The State vs Nath’l Horsey} Ind’t. Jury Sworn: James Gant, Alexander Russell, William Jameson, Elisha Kirk, John Mason, Thomas Latta, Hugh McCaddams, David Strayhorn, David White, Jeremiah Holt, Joshua Walker, James Hart – find the Defend’t Guilty in manner & form as charged in the bill of Ind’t. Ordered in Custody &c. It is adjudged & decreed by the Court that the said Nathaniel Horsey be taken hence and be tied to public whipping post there received fifteen Lashes on his bare back & stand committed until [blank], appeal prayed & Granted and Def’t ????? ????? ???? ????? ????? his appearance ??? ?????. Ordered that James Mebane esquire, Alexander Marcom?, Archibald Hamilton and Andrew Patton be and they are hereby appointed to lay off to Margaret Faddis the Widow & Relict of Andrew Faddis deceased one years maintenance out of the Crop, Stock & Provision on hand, and if there be not Sufficient not of the Crop, Stock & Provision, then to make up the Deficiency out of the other personal estate of the said Andrew Faddis deceased & repot to next Court.

Administration on the estate of John Barker deceased is granted to John Mason, he entering into Bond with Alexander Moore & Archibald Hamilton Securities in the Sum of £250 for his faithful Administration of the Said estate and Leave is given to the said John Mason to Sell the perishable Part of the estate of the said deceased.

Jeremiah Holt is appointed Guardian to James Dixon & Peggy Dixon Orphans of Robert Dixon dec’d and enters into Bond with Abel Rainey & Thomas Ruffin his Securities in the Sum of £400 each.

Jonathan Hobbs is appointed Guardian to Herbert Hobbs & Susan Hobbs and enters into Bond with Thomas Latta & James Hastings his Securities in the Sum of £200 each.

David Hobbs is appointed Guardian to John Hobbs who enters Bond with Thomas Latta & James Hastings in the Sum of £200.

Ordered that James Sturdivant Son of James Sturdivant dec’d now of the age of Eleven Years 10th May next be bound to Luke Pendergast until he arrive to lawful age to [learn] the art & mistery of a farmer. [Bond not found.]

Administration of the Estate of Henry Garrett dec’d is granted to Boston Sharp & Henty Garrott who enter into Bond with John Prather and Eli McDaniel in the Sum of £200.

Robert Graham esqr, William Johnston, Thomas Carter, Jesse Towell are appointed Commissioners to lay off & allot to Jane Fike one years provision for her Self & family out of the Crop, Stock & provisions belonging to said Sec’s and if there should note be a Sufficiency of said Stock, Crop & provisions then they will assess in money as Sum Sufficient for said Support.

On Motion and cause shown it is Ordered that Isaac Weaver a boy of Color now about eighteen years old who was heretofore bound by this Court to Edward Harris [not found] be & he is removed from the power & authority of the said Edward Harris and is released & discharged from further obedience to the Orders of the said Edward Harris & of ???? his Service.

Administration of the Estate of Archibald Clark Dec’d is granted to Willie Shaw who enters into Bond with James Clark & Mann Patterson in the Sum of £200.

Administration on the Estate of Moses Dossett Dec’d is granted to Josiah Turner who enters into Bond with John Young his Sec’y in the [sum] of £200.

The last Will & Testament of Duncan D Briggs Dec’d having been offered for probate the Same is Caveated. Whereupon Administration Pendente Lite is granted to Absalom Alston who enters into Bond with Alfred Alston & Anthony M Dixon his Sec’s in the Sum of £3000. [See OWB D/457.]

Ordered that Andrew McBroom esqr, William Maris, Thomas Taylor & Stephen Taylor be appointed Commissioners to lay off & allot to Polley Clark widow of Arch’d Clark dec’d one years provision out of the Stock, Crop & provisions in hand of said Dec’d for herself & family and if there be not Corp, Stock & provisions Sufficient then they will assess in Money a Sum Sufficient therefor & report to next Term.

Ordered that Absalom Alston Adm’r &c of Duncan D Briggs dec’d have leave to sell the perishable estate of said Dec’d.

Ordered that the Sheriff serve Serina Burns with notice that she produce to the next Court on Thursday her Son Alfred Burns for the purpose of binding him out.

Ordered that the Sheriff serve Nancy Willis with notice that she produce to the next Court James Winters (on Thursday) for the purpose of binding him out.

Ordered that Abel Rainey Coroner be allowed five pounds for holding an Inquest on the body of a Negro Slave the property of William Wallace. [Inquest not found.]

Administration of the Estate of Robert Rhodes dec’d is granted to Francis Rhodes and enters into Bond with John Copley & Thomas Christian in the Sum of £100.

Ordered that William Lockhart Son of James Lockhart Dec’d be bound to his Uncle William Lockhart until he arrive to lawful age to learn the Art & mistery of a farmer and [blank]. [Bond not found.]

Ordered that Reuben Penny pay to Rachel Hester the Sum of Twenty Seven pounds as follows, to wit Seven pounds down and five pounds annually thereafter until the whole is paid for the Support & maintenance of a Child of which she has lately been delivered and of which he stands Charged as the reputed father – the payment of five pounds is admitted.
