David Ray exhibited here in Open Court a Deed of Conveyance
from Thomas H Perkins, Mary M Perkins his wife & Nicholas Perkins Sen’r of
Williamson County in the State of Tennessee to him the said David Ray for
Eleven hundred & fifty acres of Land lying & being in the County of
Orange. And the said David Ray at the same time exhibited to the said Court
(endorsed on said Deed) the Certificate of Robert Whitte esqr one of the Judges
of the Supreme Courts of Errors & appeal for the State of Tennessee that on
the 23d of October 1816 the said Thomas H Perkins, Mary M Perkins
his wife & Nicholas Perkins personally appeared before him & then &
there acknowledged the within conveyance was their Act & Deed, and that he
examined the said Mary M Perkins privily & apart from the said Thomas H
Perkins her husband who acknow touching the Execution of said Deed, who
acknowledged that she had executed the same freely & of her Own accord,
without fear or compulsion of the said Thomas H Perkins her husband. And the
said David Ray at the same time Exhibited to the said Court (affixed to the
said Deed & endorsed certificate) the certificate of Joseph McMin esquire
Governor of the State of Tennessee, duly authenticated under his hand &
that of William Alexander Secretary of State & under the Great Seal of
Tennessee aforesaid, that Robert Whyte Esquire before whom the foregoing &
annexed Deed was acknowledged was one one [sic] of the Judges of the Supreme Courts
of Errors & Appeals for Tennessee aforesaid & that William Alexander
who attests his official certificate is Secretary of State, and that their
Official acts as such are entitled to all due faith & credit. Whereupon, On
motion of the said David Ray, It is Ordered that the said Certificate

A Paper writing Purporting to be the last Will &
Testament of Andrew Murdock deceased was offered for Probate by James Mebane
and it appearing to the Court by the oath of the said James Mebane that the
said Paper writing was found by him on the day after said Andrew Murdock died
in one of the small Drawers of the Desk belonging to the said Andrew Murdock,
and in a place where the valuable paper of the said Andrew were usually kept;
and it further appearing to the Court by the Oath of the said James Mebane and
of William Sheppard, Reuben Smith & Thomas Whitted that the name Andrew
Murdock subscribed to the said Paper Writing is in the proper hand Writing of
the said Andrew, they having often seen him write, and being well acquainted
with his hand writing. It is adjudged by the Court that the said Paper Writing
is the last Will & Testament of the said Andrew Murdock deceased, and is
Ordered to be Recorded. Whereupon James Mebane qualified as Executor of the
